My friend has a 01 Malibu with the typical intake coolant leak. Has some wired issues with ignition. I replaced a bad ignition switch and tumbler last march 2012. Symptoms were intermittent heater and dash lights and at times no crank. Today he called and brought it over took a quick peek at it. Extended crank at times cycle the key its starts. Dies intermittently but not during my test. Door chime is on all the time with key out and door open Dash lights intermittently delay to come on when they turn on the fuel pump relay and fuel lump turns on. Then starts with no problems. No stored codes Battery voltage tested good 12.35v and running passed 14.45v I swapped some relays around. I think the ignition switch is bad again which is lifetime warranty. Any thoughts or testing procedures. Going to try the alarm key reset procedure or 10min reset next banana:

12.35 volts is approaching half discharged

otherwise it may simply have read low if all the stuff u were doing removed some of the surface charge.
anyways i dont suppose a dieing battery would cause all those symptoms like the intermittent no crank. unless maybe it’s something stupid like loose terminal that could also cause poor charging.
