The power in the cigarette lighter outlet in my 2001 Cavalier LS stays on and therefore when I leave anything in it (after turning off the engine) which uses power makes the battery drain. What can be done so that power in that power in the outlet get turned off when you turn off the car as it happens in Toyota cars?
      Thanks.

You could unplug the device before leaving the car or you would need a relay and tied into
a keyed switched source to control the outlet. A wiring diagram may be needed.

Or get an aftermarket power port from Jc Whitney and wire to a key on circuit. This would still be better using a relay, however.

You mean the constant power cigarette lighter isn’t a feature anymore? Old GMs were like that.

Depending on the variables like exterior temperature and time parked something like what I assume to be a simple usb powered device, like a phone, shouldn’t really be killing the battery over a few hours. You might want to have your battery’s and charging system’s performance checked.
