      Hi!

After hearing a squeechy noise and diagnosing a worn front bearing on the right side, I decided to change both front lower ball joints and wheel bearings. I wanted to change the left bearing also, even if it was the right side that obviously needed a new bearing. Luckily,

you can try the new nut to try and fix the threads. your best bet is to find a big enough dye to chase the threads. otherwise the axle will
need to be replaced. good luck and keep us posted. C8-)

Finally, I was able to put back the old nut without using too much force. A new cotter pin was put in place so I’ve been watching it everyday to notice any movement and it haven’t move yet. I guess I can be confident on this one.

After my ball joints’ job, my car is now unaligned. Steering wheel is a little to the right and wobbles when turning right at a speed of 60Mph. Is that dangerous? I plan on going at a shop for the alignment job.

Given your description of the condition after the repair and what happened during the repair I’m suggesting you go back and check your work, there should not be a vibration after work like that in fact it should be smooth without any noise. Furthermore you should not have to do an alignment after that work as you would not have had to loosen anything that would effect the alignment. You may want to take it somewhere to have them look at it for nothing else but to assess it’s condition for safety.

+1 I’ve replaced my fair share of wheel bearings and ball joints and have not experienced an alignment issue or wobble. Double check your work and if you still aren’t sure take it to a good shop to be looked over to be safe 😉
