This engine will start when it is cold (not weather, just engine), but it takes about 2-3 cycles of trying. Once it is warmed up, it starts with no problem. I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator with no improvement. Pushing the accelerator to the floor before starting doesn’t help either.Suggestions? 207,000 miles.
      Thanks!

Did you test the fuel pressure before/after replacing the regulator? If so, what were the numbers? If not, I advise doing so. If pressure is up to spec, a compression test would be a good idea.

Yes the fuel pressure and volume were tested and up to specs. Have not done a compression test, but can.
          Thanks!

Just to be sure, it is cranking but not starting ?
It idles and runs ok otherwise and the check engine/service engine soon light or message is absent?

Slowly cycle the ignition switch to the on position 3 times to let the fuel pump build up pressure before you first try to start the car.
If it now starts right up, you’re losing fuel pressure after shutdown.

If the problem still exists, check the spark plugs, air & fuel filters, pcv, and check for vacuum leaks.

Yes it cranks, but doesn’t start. I did the ignition cycle sequence and that doesn’t help. I have new plugs and wires on the docket to be installed. We’ll see what it has to say then.
              Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help![/quote]What kind of MPG are you seeing with the car? Initially, most people are going to focus on the fuel pressure side of the equation. I would like to see what cold fuel rail pressure is before cranking it up cold vs where it is at when shut down hot. You can expect some pressure loss due to the system cooling down, but it should hold fairly steady. If it does, then you are looking at ignition/injector timing control. Could be a flaky sensor, though normally you that they are going to act up when hot.
