      Hi Guys,

Have to replace fuel pump on my son’s Mystique with the V6. It is the returnless variant. I just need to know how to disconnect the fuel line. It seems to squeeze from the sides by hand and moves a bit, but it will not come off. The manual mentions a proprietary Ford tool needed for this. Is there an aftermarket tool that will work? Thx, Pop

        By the looks of it..
A simple set of hose pliers from Harbor Freight should do the trick.

Perhaps you need to squeeze the lock tabs a little more.
Or maybe it is a squeeze, lift then turn style.

Well, I have a set of those very pliers, so I will give it a shot!

I am squeezing the tabs, pulling with the pliers, and the thing will jiggle but not disconnect. I am concerned if I apply more force I will break it. Suggestions?

It appears there are 2 sets of locking tabs.
Perhaps after releasing the first set you twist the connector.
              Then release the second set.
Though I have never seen this before.
Or you need to release both sets of locking tabs.

              See if this is useful:
They do mention that it is a PITA to get that 4 prong lock to release
