Every time the outside temp falls below 10 degrees, My 4.6L V-8 starts acting up. High idle on start up and then acts like it is flooding out. Keeps running as I let it warm and drives fine with great mileage. Using an actron ODB II Pocket scan–I got P0301, P0352, P1131, P1151. Periodically I get a loud hum, when it’s cold eminating from the MAF. Have pulled the the top off the filter box and watched it vibrate and the noise was coming from it. Cleaned it once. Still happens from time to time. Yet–I have massive idle problems on cold start-up. I understand the O2 sensors could be the problem—but I feel the problem is with the MAF. I do not think it is a vacuum leak, coil or spark plug issue as I switched coils around and ultimatley replaced the spark plugs during warmer weather and cured a a P0301 code issue during warmer weather. Ran great for the rest of the warm weather season!
Just hoping for some advice. This is year two of the exact same symptoms. Thanks ETG friends!

Those cars had issues with the IAC valve making all kinds of noises but they usually don’t cause drivability issues. They make the whole intake system vibrate. I will look into your fault codes and will see what I find to help you.

            OK. P0301 misfire # 1 cylinder
P0352 Ignition coil circuit. Does your car have coil on plug or plug wires?
            P1131 Lean mixture bank 1 sensor 1
            P1151 Lean mixture bank 2 sensor 1

Depending on your vehicle P1131 and P1151 could be an intake manifold vacuum leak, defective o2 sensors or a bad MAF sensor. Again depending on the year and model it could be a split PCV valve fitting at the back of the manifold was common on some Fords.

              here is what i found.

P1131 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch – Sensor Indicates Lean – Bank No. 1
P1151 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch – Sensor Indicates Lean – Bank No. 2

new o2 sensors maybe? these also talk of high long term fuel trim fyi.
