Alright so one of my buds checked out my honda and said that yes the belt skipped. He said he just hopes nothing else is wrong inside since the car was heating up when it ran. But it only heated up twice when I was driving it. Hopefully nothing else goes wrong.

How did he check it? Did he actually check the mechanical timing?

He checked the cam gears and one was ahead of the other.

Alright so my bud got the car running now. But for some reason when im in first gear and step on it theres a loud popping sound that comes from the muffler. And when I try and start it for some reason it sounds like it barely wants to start. And I also saw that it shakes alot when I step on the gas a little. It also shakes a lot once the a/c fan comes on. Heres a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9DiE5TpJks

He also messed with the spark plug wires on the dizzy. What is the firing order for this motor?

did you guys check mechanical timing? if the firing order was wrong it would run bad as soon as you started it. I think its 1,3,4,2
heres some videos that Eric did that should help. you need to check and set mechanical timing. hard to tell from the video. I
don’t know if its vacuum leak or exhaust leak? keep us posted. great progress. she runs. C8-)

I have no idea what he did but he aligned everything back up. Just right now I took it out for a test drive and it drove good till 3rd gear that’s where the muffler started making the popping noise. I stepped on the gas and it just didn’t want to run anymore so I drove it back home with the gear in 1st. I have no idea what’s wrong with it. On my gauge it says that air fuel is lean. Not sure what that means.

Could it be the spark plugs? The ones that were in were platinum’s and the new ones I put in are NGK Standard Copper.

                            Ignition misfire?

Don’t those Si’s without tweaking require premium gas, etc? If OE required platinum or called for them in replacement I’d go platinum NGK, but I’ve never owned an Si so not sure how sensitive it is to backfiring on ‘wrong’ plugs.

That backfire though…if its not ignition I suppose a worst case scenario is a bent exhaust value. Did you ask your friend how far out of time it was? Not sure if a bent exhaust valve would cause backfiring, just thoughts after the timing was off and for who knows how long it started skipping teeth until timing got to where it wasn’t in a startup state.

what gage is telling you its lean. if it is lean its vacuum related or fuel. did your friend put a timing light on it? if so what was the mechanical timing. C8-)

The type of gas I put is unleaded. On the gas door theres a sticker that says “Use only Premium Unleaded” Not sure if it means Premium type gas or Unleaded. And I will check the manual today to see what spark plugs go in because the ones that were in there were platinums. The timing was not far I think it only skipped 2 teeth from the looks of it.

In the video I posted up you can see. It’s a gauge that was installed. And no he hasn’t put a timing light to it. He will be coming tommorow to fix the problem and to fix the problem with the car fan not working.
