I have a 2000 Honda Civic with about 140k miles that I can’t quite figure out what is wrong with it, but can’t afford to just keep throwing parts at it.

From my driveway. cold start, it starts right away pretty much without fail. It was having a hard time starting at <1/4 tank. It has been getting harder and harder to start over time, at higher levels of gas. The engine cranks strongly, but won't catch for a long time, even if I leave the key in the ON(II) position for 3-5 seconds before cranking.
If I drive for about 5 minutes to the store and come back 30 minutes later sometimes it starts right back up and sometimes it is really ornery. It seems to happen more often when I park with the front of the car at even slightly higher than the back. When it doesn't catch while cranking, I can smell gas in/around the car but cannot see any in the engine bay or under the car.
Once the car is started, it runs fine with no stalling and has never died while running.

In early June I replaced the cracked radiator, and the thermostat and fan switch for good measure. While I was in there I replaced fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and distributor cap.

Does anybody have any direction to go on this? I'm kinda stumped and don't want to just throw more money at a fuel pump hoping it fixes everything.

Edit: Forgot to add the latest, I couldn't get the car to start at target with somewhere between 1/2 to 3/4 of a tank. Walked to gas station and back with can to put a few more gallons in the car. It eventually started, then I drove to gas station to fill rest of the way up. Filled it up (2 more gallons) and I almost couldn't get it to start, wife was looking up numbers for a tow truck when I finally got it to start.

It sounds like your running your car to low on fuel and sucking
the bottom of the tank which could be clogging injectors or your
fuel gauge is wrong and still sucking the bottom. Try and fill the car
to see if there is an improvement. I will leave this link for more help.

That was the problem that I had yesterday, I filled it up at the pump, it only took two gallons and then wouldn’t start.

I am afraid that is happening in your charcoal canister for gas recirculation. As far as I have learned from others experiences, when it gets clogged with petrol, it adversely influences engine performance – and is relevant to the petrol volume in tank.
I also believe, you can air purge that canister, only being very careful.

            Here’s several vids for you:

Canister overflow explains petrol smell around the car and relevance to inclination.

The symptoms could also be caused by a faulty injector putting too much fuel into the cylinder. On cold the engine would need more gas to start anyhow so it would start ok. Once it’s warmed up and parked for a short duration the engine would need less gas to start and still have too much left in the cylinder. When parked for longer duration that allow the engine to cool it sounds like it starts better (because it needs extra gas to start when cold). When it is being a pain it sounds like eventually the flood condition clears enough for the car to start.

If you warm the car up a little and then were to pull a plug at a time are any soaked with gasoline?
