If you can see the rockers moving then it’s probably not timing belt related (unless it jumped a few teeth which is unlikely). You have spark so next thing to check would be for fuel pressure, just because you hear the pump run doesn’t necessarily mean you are getting the right pressure. If that’s OK then make sure you have compression.

Have you checked for any codes ? even if you don’t have a cel light on I would still see if any codes are stored. after that I would also recommend a fuel pressure test. both key on ( not cranking ) and cranking.

hearing the fuel pump doesnt mean its working 100%, you do need to make sure the pump is working, you do need to do a fuel pressure test as 619DioFan mentioned..

i dont think its the timing belt as if that was bad you would hear the pistons hitting the valves making serious damage

              New update.

I tried turning her over today and the engine catched for a moment and died

Then when I tired again I can hear the starter whirling but no engine at all!@! Can I assume the belt just snapped?

ps is there a way to rent a code checking device?

Most auto parts store will loan out OBD2 code scanners for a deposit.

How many miles are on the vehicle and current timing belt?

It sounds like you may have an issue with the timing belt. Did you try to remove the oil filler cap again to see if the camshaft or the Rockers are moving with your latest update?

Also if it is a timing belt issue, you would not get spark nor any injector pulse.

Does it sound something like the vehicle in this video?

I’m thinking you’re flooded, it’s quite common on Hondas for some reason. Pull the spark plugs and see if they are wet with fuel, if they are then you are probably flooded and as a result you don’t have any compression since the gas has washed the cylinder walls down. Once you have dried out or replaced the plugs then try starting the engine with your foot planted to the floor on the gas, this will turn the injectors off and allow the engine to ‘clear the flood’. Don’t crank the engine forever but you may have to crank for some time to get it to run just take breaks to let the starter cool form time to time. As for the hard starting try just cycling the key to the ‘run’ position a couple of times before you start the car cold, if it fires right up when you do this perhaps there is a problem with the check valve in the fuel pump being stuck open bleeding off the pressure. If this is the case then you can continue to start the engine this way or you can replace the pump. I would recommend an OE replacement or Denso as some other brands aren’t as good as the original. Here is a video about what’s inside a fuel pump that might help explain what I’m talking about.

Well pulled the spark plugs and they were totally fouled. I think it was running really rich. This was after I pulled the timing belt cover off, which was a bitch to do. Sometimes I get my mind set that it’s one thing. Really have to check the simple stuff first.

I pulled the heat shield off the manifold and there a huge crack in the middle, probably throwing the o2 sensor off.

Changed the spark plugs and wires as you said and wires and she started up again.. Now I just have to find a good used exhaust manifold, but this will do for now. Thanks for the help.

I subscribed to your chan btw great videos!

Also I’m working on changing the serpentine belts any suggestions on how to get the bottom one out? It seems to be caught on something..

There is a free Chilton’s online manual that you can use for free that may help. It is posted in the “How To..” section i believe.

I think you might be referring to the AC belt, sometimes you have to remove the lower side engine mount to replace that belt. Those manifolds are known for cracking and you’re right it will cause the O2 to read lean forcing the engine to go rich. Keep us posted.
