Well I recently changed my valve cover gasket and tube seals. I wanted to be sure that the tubes weren’t leaking so I pulled the number 1 spark plug wire out and inspected the end. I noticed it was not leaking but when I looked into the spark plug tube I noticed the terminal was still stuck to the plug. I re-inserted it and started the car. It ran and revved fine but I was reading that if I drive it too long on this it’s bad for the coil.

These are I am assuming OEM wires and only 90k on them. What are your thoughts? Do I need to buy new wires? Or should I just try to buy 1?

I would recommend all new wires.

What do the stock ones say on it?

          Radio suppression or something?

RFI suppression for radio and electronic noise.

I know what it’s for. But I was wondering what the OEM ones say on it. The car runs, I’ll have to see what happens. I bought the car used and know nothing before mileage 83,700.

I can’t remember what is printed on the leads, however if you do not know the service history I would be inclined to change all 4, this will be a preventative measure and a box ticked in your maintenance regime.

I don’t know about it being hard on the coil but if there is any arcing between the wire and terminal inside the plug boot it will eventually start to cause a misfire. I would suggest replacing the whole set as it’s likely another wire might break the same way in the future.

I understand the reasoning behind doing that. However, I don’t want to start changing things if they aren’t broke and look good.

Though I think I Am just going to replace them.

Alright, I actually had a problem similar to that in my old honda. Drove me insane.

I may give it a week or so. Just to be sure there are no leaks within those spark plug tubes. I’d rather destroy the old ones with oil than a set of brand new wires.

                    I’ll be going with NGK.

Those are NOT OEM wires. That’s the reason for the issue. If you have OE wires on a Honda never change them unless they are damaged. They last just about forever. The NGK’s are a good substitute if you need to save some money.

Awesome, I just bought a set of NGK wires. I’ll definitely keep these old wires though. Just incase it happens again and I need a quick spare wire.

I knew the original wires lasted a very long time…which was why I was really bummed about replacing these because I thought they were OEM. Though I am very happy to hear that they aren’t.

Will I be okay to drive it like this for a day or two. About 10 miles round trip until the new wires come in?

Thank you so much for what you do.

                          Shouldn’t be a problem.

keep us posted on the new wires.

Throw those crap wires away. Now that you have the NGK’s you won’t need them. Good luck and thanks for keeping us up to date.

So allegedly I am supposed to be receiving my spark plug wires today. I was looking at pics of my car online and noticed I found an up close shot of my engine. It has pictures of the spark plug wires.

So just wondering if we are still for these wires being junk. Anyways.

Those are NOT OE wires. OE wires do not come apart when you remove them from the plug wells. Crap aftermarket wires do.
