I’m pulling the engine out of my very rusty old truck and I am just taking the whole thing apart pulling the heads off and everything and getting rid of the entire body and only keeping the parts that need to go with the engine the computer and water pump and other things i can swap in with it maybe “I haven’t done this before I don’t know what exactly ill need I only have a slight idea” but despite that I have no reason to stop i don’t care if i tear it up trying to do it that bad I’m learning and trying it out and i just want to learn more of the interior workings of the engine since its already shot out a spark plug and has done more than enough for me the truck has lived its lifetime and served its purpose for me and I plan on taking this engine and putting it in a different chassis after i rebuild all the parts inside the engine that need it and improove it dramaticly for the sake of low to mid range torque I’ve been told something about shorting the valves for this and ill be sticking the common super charger on it that come on 5.4s if you can do that with the 2v 5.4 i don’t know yet i think the lightening has a 3v 5.4 so i might have to figure something else out but im going for rebuilding this whole thing myself and modifying everything to to accelerate quickly I’m thinking about putting it into a foxbody mustang chassis and finding an old 6 speed manual t56 tranmission for it out of a z 28 camero I found that someone actually sell parts for it to bolt of to one of those aftermarket which would be nice and tuned headers the only thing is this truck has a whole lot of rust on it and so does the engine so when i finally get the block out I just hope it isn’t in too poor of condition to even make it into a hotrod that kind of resembles a mad max car but I am going to get techical about every single thing on this build if there is any horspower i can gain anywhere at all by doing anything within my power im going to do it or at least attempt it this engine will be my project car and If theres anything I need to know before hand about it that i’m just not going to know going in I would like to know that please from anyone that could possibly let me know thanks. oh and i often mess with these little credit card sized computers call raspberry pis they run on linux with an arm processor and I for adapters for them to hook into the computer for most cars and you could program them to give you real time stats on your engine that arnt shown by the gauge cluster im beggining to wonder if i could program one by itself to actually control the computers engine parameters from a linux system that would be a pretty sweet setup dont you think i dont know if thats possible but if it was i think it would be awesome ill definetly try to get something like that going if I can. but yeah a lot of people are asking me why are you saving this engine or flat out try to talk me out of it telling me theres no reason to do it but uhh i said the reason was “FUN AND LEARNING” so I don’t know theres no stopping me im doing it but since im doing It I just want to be able to do it right so I don’t look like an idiot.
