All right guys. I have a all original 2000 si with 93000 miles on it. No mods whatsoever.
Been having a stumble/ hesitation in the lower rpm range say 1000 to 3200. car lags and bucks a bit when throttle is applied. After that rpm range it runs like normal. Idles fine and smooth. No codes , no CEL.

      curious about where to start.

Have you done any tune up parts? Plugs, cap, rotor
Check ignition timing with a timing light. Throttle
body clean? more in this link.

No not yet. The only thing I have done was test the map sensor with a multimeter.

You may want to start with the tune up parts and TB cleaning.
Has the timing belt ever been done?

I bought the car with 60000 miles on it. It now has 93,000 to my knowledge the timing belt has not been replaced.
It will be getting done at the end of January when I get back from leave.

Any ideas on what it could be outside of a tune up and the timing belt?
Strikes me strange that it is only in that rpm range and not throwing a cel or code.

The things that I listed would be some of the contributing factors.
If we start with the basic stuff we can illuminate them from the list.
There are other possibilities like dirty injectors,TPS But I don’t want
to complicate matters. Easy stuff first.

All right . Full tune up down. Cap, rotor, plugs, and wires.

                      No improvement or change.
However just before buying tune up parts . The car threw a CEL with 2 codes. P0301 and a P1399.

the first was a cylinder 1 misfire and the other said random misfire all cylinders.

So what could cause misfires in only the lower rpm ranges under load but none 4k and above under load.

Check valve clearences. Adjust if needed. Check compression on all cylinders. Make sure that all injectors “click”

Next on the list clean throttle body and check ignition timing
                                  with a light.
