      i get a flashing/steady red alternator fault. no code set. running voltage 14.3v resting voltage 12.2v
      i have tried to recharge the battery but light keeps coming on.is it time for a new battery?

        You can get the battery load tested at any auto parts store. That will tell you the condition of the battery. Personally, since I live in Chicago, I would change any battery over four years old. I’ve changed way too many batteries in -30 degree days on the side of the road with a flashlight… no fun!           Sometimes the alternator light can show a bad voltage regulator/bad diodes (leaking) which causes a parasitic draw which drains the battery overnight/over time… You may want to get your alternator tested at an auto parts store…
