My brothers 2000 Chevy Blazer recently developed a misfire at idle. It has 180K miles, 4.3 Vortec engine. It runs great on the highway and at higher RPMs with no sign of a misfire until you let it idle. It was due for a tune up so I replaced the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. I connected a Snap on Solus and was reading the live misfire data while working the throttle. The misfire is on cylinder 3 only, and it wasn’t misfiring above 1500 RPMs. With the basic tune up stuff ruled out I’m a bit stumped as to how to proceed. I have thought the distributor might be worn or low compression in that cylinder, but if that was the case I would think the misfire would be random (bad distributor) and present at any RPM. I suppose it could be some sort of fuel issue. What do you guys think? Thanks.
