My dad has a 2000 Acura TL. He has had it for a long time and it’s been a great car. Recently, however, the red SRS light came on… on the dashboard. I found a reset procedure, involving jumpering out the MES connector, etc on the internet and tried it with no luck. Is there any additional troubleshooting/repair info available to me as a “do-it-yourselfer”…. or is my only recourse going to be taking it to a garage/dealership? Thanks for any help and/or advice you can give me.

The cheapest scan tools I’ve seen that read SRS codes are about $300. Everything beyond generic OBD2 emissions differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. Depending on the code set you need access to the proper manuals so you can check resistance values through different components.
I’m going to predict that it’s a belt buckle, probably the drivers side.
