The Maintenance Required light will not reset on a 2000 Acura TL we just bought. I tried the two button method in the manual but no luck. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Thanks. This is the procedure that is detailed in the manual and I believe I followed it correctly. But, in listening to the audio, it sounds like the buttons made a noise when he pressed them. Are they supposed to make a latching sound like that? I’ll try this again tomorrow. Thank you again for helping us.

No luck! I am sure I followed the procedure exactly but the light still would not reset. WIth the key off, I pushed both buttons in, turned the key on and I held the buttons in for at least 30 seconds and probably closer to a minute. The light flashed once but then stayed on. Any other ideas? I am wondering if maybe one of the buttons isn’t working. Any way to test their functions without taking a lot of stuff apart? I don’t have a wiring diagram for the car yet but I do have a repair manual on order. Thanks again!

The service manual says for that model after turning the ignition switch on, if your holding the reset buttons, the light should flash 10 times then go out. If it isn’t doing anything then there may be a problem with the circuit perhaps.

thanks. Do you happen to know where I can get a copy of the wiring diagram for this car on the internet? Hopefully for free? I have a repair manual on order but that will probably take while to get here.

I checked that site but I don’t see a diagram covering this particular area. Looks like I’ll have to wait until the manual I ordered shows up. Thanks!

Great diagram. 🙂 what you could do is ohm out the switches.
                              disconnect the negative cable.
