1st 03 to 10 f150 crank no start. Have been seeing A lot of fuel pump modules bad. Generally they rot out on the back sideand corrode. They put them by the spare tire. We use a bed liner coating on the back of the new part to resist corrosion.

2nd 03 to current for vehicles with a 3.0 or 3.5 dead miss and pcm setting coil driver ckt codes. Bad pcm. I have done at least 5 of these this month. I will verify continuity from coil to pcm. Then load test. If that checks ok I will backprobe pcm and verify pcm not grounding coil.

Thanks Sam G. for all the info you’ve been posting….it really helps me. When I worked on Fords the F150 fuel pump driver was an issue. In fact Fords…Online Automotive Service Information System (OASIS)told me to replace the fuel pump the first few I did, until they got their head out of their @#$.

I still can’t understand how an engineer can design an aluminum base module and mound it on a steel base and not expect the metals to react against each other.

They do it because 1. They don’t care about what the customer has to pay to have a reliable vehicle. The reason Ford is the best selluing truck is because they are pieces of crap. You can’t sell a lot of vehicles if they run for a long time. 2. Everything is rushed, they worry about making things impossible to get to or impossible for non-dealer techs to work on.

And that’s their good points…..and now for the GM feeling…. 🙂

I’ve worked for both brands in dealers. Ford has just as many recalls that are just as dangerous as gm, but no one says a lot. The new line of ford turbo engine are junk. When I worked for gm they just started putting the 3.6 in everything and that engine is a joke. I can do timing chains in a 5.4 3v or a gm 3.6 with my eyes closed. It’s all junk. You’d be lucky to lease any new domestic car and make it to the return date without any major engine or drivetrain issues. TRUTH

I didn’t like working on any of the Ford’s except for the oval body Taurus 3.0 2 valve. The 150 I lifted the body off to do engines most of the time…I hated R&R Fusion transmissions, big time loser for me…In general the GM’s I had no problems working on them… until the 3.6 came along.

Now, being retired, the only concern I have is when I take my afternoon nap. 😆
