I tried to loosen the tensioner in my 1999 ford taurus to change the belt, but if i go counter clock wise the bolt just comes out and if i go clockwise the bolt just gets tighter and does not release anything, can i get some help please?

Which engine? 3.0L V6? It should be as simple as putting a socket and breaker bar on the tensioner and turning clockwise. To relieve the tension you turn the bolt in the direction opposite of removal.

That is exactly what i did, but i do not get any tension release,i am starting to believe if i should try the idler pulley instead, excuse my ignorance, yes it is the 3.0 V6.
