“…a total eclipse of the hearrrrrrt!!”

haha, no seriously…it is an abused, been in a couple of accidents, not too good to look at but really is okay on certain angles 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

She is probably on the 3rd or 4th owner now, (me) and it has, a LOUD exhaust and big cold air intake.

I need to be clear about this; I DO NOT like the obnoxious loud exhaust, but it’s on there for right now, and will be “baffled” down soon.

On the plus side, it has a replacement transmission (5 speed), clutch from ACT (I think…vague memory from when I bought it.)

My goal is to make this a primary car, because currently, my primary car is a 1982 Toyota Corolla, and really, it doesn’t get better than 23 mpg combined city/highway.

The biggest problem with this Eclipse is putting all the pieces back together, because it is dirty underneath and has things cut and torn and ripped and rusted.

I’m quite concerned about the charcoal canister wiring harnes has had the wires clipped. I looked in the wiring harness to see if there were any wires that were removed and just, dangling inside the wire wrap, and couldn’t find any. So, I figured, go to my Chilton’s manual and find the wiring diagram; can’t find it there, but I know it HAS to be in there…

But, this is what I’m working on, and will be a project for a few more months before it’s safe and road-ready.

A friend of mine has a 98 GSX that in his words “has everything” and I got to stand behind it last week while it was idling and you could feel the thumping in your chest from the exhaust.

GSXs are beasts, easily into the 11s for cheap.

The vacuum system on our cars suck with the 420a, with the canister and egr value are always a pain. Plus the EGR tube sucks when it wants to melt wires

In my opinion.. anything is 11s for the cheap, depends if you stick with the stock engine or not.
Engine swaps are the cheapest way to do anything really, buy a volvo engine from sweeden that has turbo setup stock, and you get 400-500 whp without any hazzle…
But good to have something with potential from the start! :cheer:
