I recently did a front main crank seal replacement on a 1999 Mazda protege on a 1.6 L engine. When I put the timing belt back on, I reassembled the all the belts and pulleys and put the timing gasket on. I went to go start the car it cranks but it won’t catch or start.
I checked the timing marks on both the camshafts and the crank pulley and they all match line up. I cleaned and repositioned the crank position sensor. I have spark and have replaced the spark plug leads as well as new spark plugs. When I removed the spark plug it reeked of gas. I have checked all fuses and relays. When the seal failed it covered all components attached to the belt are covered in tons if oil. It was running fine before I replaced the front crank seal. Not really sure what could be the cause of the no start
