Quick Question.. Within a 2 week span i had 2 Spark Plugs blow out of the block. One on each side.. fixed the issue But i can always tell when its about to happen.. the engine starts tapping weeks before… right after now my cat Convertor has gone up on the front right side…

I know Bad plugs can cause a cat convertor to go up.. but could a clogged Cat cause the clown out spark plugs?? backpressure? compression?

I have never had a plug blow out unless it was loose.
If the cat is clogged then I guess the back pressure and
        possible misfire could do it.

This is a sadly common problem on these engines. There aren’t enough threads on some cylinders to hold the plug in. There’s like 3 threads. Correct torque on the plugs is critical if you wish to avoid plug blowouts. In the future when you hear it start to tap, retorque all plugs ASAP. I also recommend that you use the TimeSert kit, as the others sometimes blow out. I’ve never seen a properly installed TimeSert blow out.

I don’t think the cat could cause back pressure and blow out the spark plug because the exhaust valves close once the pressure gets pushed out and wouldn’t allow it to get back in. I have actually seen this happen before, but it was just usually a bad spark plug or bad wire.
