1999 Honda Civic Ex shifter is sticky

      My daughters 99 civic runs great. When I drive it, I do notice that the shifter on the floor is somewhat “sticky” getting into and out of gear. Its almost like the linkage is rusty or wearing out or something. It does go into gear. its just a little sticky

          Yea, it would be good to know if this is a manual or automatic. In the mean time, you might find information here that’s helpful.

            If it is an auto, I would inspect the cable carefully for damage, replace as necessary.

            If it is a manual, that is about par for the course for Honda manual transmissions. You can try draining the gear oil out, and replacing it with Penzoil Synchromesh fluid. I have been very happy with the way that fluid works.
