Well I got some bills to handle before I can afford to eliminate the balance shafts from the DSM, so she is parked for now. However, I still need to keep myself busy so today I modified my center console for my boost gauge. Some people are lucky and have a drill press and a circular hole saw to do this, me not so much. So this after noon I sat down with my Dremel with a marker tip sander bit and a 6.00 set of files from Harbor Freight and went to work.
I am doing this because quality gauges to tell me important engine vitals are required, but I want to avoid the ricey pillar and dash pods. Plus I like how this is very low profile.
Here is a stock console picture from my buddy Keith’s car for reference on what I started with. The area to be modified is the cigarette lighter section:
