I just bought a used computer (PCM) for may 1999 Chevrolet Lumina 3.1. I’m trying to solve a knock sensor trouble code and now it’s time to replace the computer.
The replacement computer has been updated with new software and the car’s VIN, and it’s ready to install. But, I guess there is an issue when installing a replacement computer that relates to the crankshaft positioning sensor. There is a “learn” procedure to do after the replacement computer is installed. The procedure is called “CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SYSTEM VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE.”
My question is whether I’ll need a special scan tool to tell the computer to start this learn procedure, or can I install the replacement computer without using the scan tool? Thanks…
