As for issues with removing the key, if the key looks worn, it may be time for a new lock and key cylinder._x000D_

You can try to ‘jiggle’ the shifter while trying to remove the key. Also same too -

Thanks everyoneJuly 27, 2012 at 11:00 am #458948It does sound like a switch issue, not sure where it’s located, it might be farther down on the column and easier to access than you think, I don’t know for sure though.
January 7, 2013 at 4:16 am #490282Sorry for the late reply, I was having issues with my username.
I did end up replacing the power window switch with a “OEM replacement” switch that I bought off ebay. I will say that it is much heavier and seems to be of better quality than the one that was in the car.
However I do not believe that anything was wrong with the switch (which wasn’t original to the car, I replaced it with a used unit from a bone yard a year ago) I received the part in the mail and threw it in the car quickly before going to work. It still wasn’t working correctly so I figured the part I bought was bad, I ordered ANOTHER new one from NAPA, even that one didn’t work correctly so I sent it back, got to looking at the connector on the wiring for the window switch (that is inside the door) and saw all this green corrosion, I replaced the wiring and the connector, and the OEM replacement part is working perfectly now.
As far as the key switch release issue: I think the neutral safety switch in the shiftier mechanism is either out of adjustment or worn, I have learned to take the car out of park and put it back in park a little more harshly and it works fine.

January 12, 2013 at 2:05 am #490887Thanks for the update. As for the corrosion issue that is common and I’m glad you were able to correct it. In my other post I had mentioned about the PRNDL switch being out of adjustment or bad. You might consider checking to see if you can adjust it or replace it. Keep us posted.
