Just change the radiator yesterday and realized when I came home there’s quite a bit of coolant on the floor on the right side of the engine near timing belt and water pump. it’s not near the transmission coolers, upper or lower radiator hoses… it’s on the right side.

I just came back from a 15-20 mile drive and it’s been almost 1-2 hours and theres no more leak?

it was almost directly under the water pump region. please don’t tell me I need a water pump/seals.. 🙁

I would look for at the radiator hose clamps to see if they are sitting right and tight.

Then I won’t tell you it needs a water pump,if all the hose clamps are tight.

A good rule of thumb: When ever a new problem pops up right after you have fixed something, a good place to look is at what you just fixed.

If all of the hose connections / clamps are positioned properly, and tightened as they should be, then I would be very suspicious of the water pump. How many miles on the water pump / timing belt? I’m not exactly sure about the 1999, but my 1994 suggests changing the belt every 90k, and it is a good practice to go ahead and change the water pump at the same time.

what’s weird is it’s been more than a day now and i drove it several times and it magically stopped leaking?

also the timing belt and water pump were replaced at 67k, i have 127k right now. so not even 60k on them.

Good to hear it’s gone away but I’d still keep an eye on it. The best way to find leaks is with a pressure tester. I show how to use one in this video.

I often find when installing a new radiator that the lower hose can be an issue. This video shows what I’m on about.

Lastly, not all parts are created equal, especially when it comes to water pumps. I’ve seen some leak at 60K so don’t rule that out. If it is leaking, this video might help you replace it.

Good luck and keep us posted.
