Hey guys I got a problem with my 98 Saturn sc2 was running fine on our trip to Pittsburgh and when we started the car when we returned it was putting bad and could smell gas and would stall in gear. So I drove the car to the local pep boys to get the codes but they said they charge a fee for that so I had to get it towed home. But while I was driving the car using the gas while on breaks method I noticed the cat was glowing red so I took out a o2 sensor to see if it breath and run better. But made no difference so any help would be great! Thank you in advance.

If the cat is glowing you are running rich (to much fuel)
check your ignition components. Also autozone or advance

checked coil packs one had spark the other didnt so i just replaced it and it still not getting spark to that coil. Any idea’s? thank you in advance.
check that the fasteners are clean and free of rust.
Also under the ignition module is clean and free of
rust. Swap the coils. If the dead coil gets spark and
the good one is dead. I would suspect the ignition module.I would agree with College. If you can find a shop that has a labscope have them scope the signal on the orange wire and the white wire going into the ignition module. You can not accurately use a volt meter as the switching of the signals is really really fast.
The orange wire is the command line signal for coil pack cylinders 2/3 and the white wire is the command line signal for coil pack cylinders 1/4.
If the module is receiving signals on both wires the module is bad, if the module is only receiving signals on one of the wires the PCM is bad.
