Hi,
1998 Corolla is what i own.
I’ve been watching ETCG’s videos a lot recently and I want to service my own brake issues, but I’m not sure if it’s as simple as a caliper swap.
When I drive away after a cold start, everything’s fine but after a few minutes of driving, i can feel the caliper engaging the brakes on it’s own. It gets to the point where it puts massive pressure on the pads. I can tell it’s the front driver side because i can feel some major heat from the wheel on that side. Once everything cools down, everything’s back to normal again until the cycle repeats.I was wondering if this is a caliper issue or if it’s something else and the master cylinder is acting up.

If this happens without you touching brake pedal its master cylinder. But it may only be adjusted incorrectly. There should be about (if I remember correctly) 3mm or 1/8” of slack before brake pedal starts to push in master cylinder.
Sounds like a sticky caliper or collapsed brake hose to the caliper… Best to get down there and inspect for issues… Definitely check the piston boot condition.

+1 it could also be a hose as pointed out. You really won’t know what’s going on until you do an inspection. These videos might be helpful as well as this article.
