My girlfriends car hasnt had AC working for several years but has worked when she first bought it. My brother said he added refrigerant to his truck and it fixed his AC that was not working.
So we tried this. Got 18 oz of regrigerant, had the gage to check pressure, filled it up and the lines got super cold/frost. But the pressure would only go up when you release refrigerant into the system, but would fall back to zero. Maybe if it was completely empty it needed more, so we added 12 oz more to the system. Pressure would rise slightly but fall to zero. Car is running while filling, AC on and fan turned on high. The seconds time you could smell something funky inside the car. Like wb 40 but very light smell. I cant see the clutch well from up top, but you could not hear it click, if it was engaging or not.
Can anyone offer suggestions of possible fix for my AC issue?
