I have a friend with a really nice 1998 celica with 140k miles. Super rare that it’s an Iowa car that is nearly rust free. He had it parked for a few years and we cranked.it up recently. Don’t worry, I checked all the fluids before we cranked it up. After a new battery and inflating a flat tire, it seemed to do alright.

      The problem.

I raised the front end for an inspection. There is clicking like a worn tie rod, but it seems to be coming from the rack. The tie rods are nice and tight. Have any of you experienced that before?

      Bonus round!

There is a small square shaped switch labled TRD, it has a slide up and down switch on one side and a rotary control recessed on the other edge. It has a two or three foot wire connecting it from left side of the dashboard. I thought maybe a driving light control, but it doesn’t touch that function. Any idea what that is?

According to some sites, a rear wiper was an option. Perhaps that’s an ON/OFF switch with a variable delay for the wiper?
