Horse power will go down if its muli port injection I believe its that crazy spider injection.
I don’t believe the computer would run it.HP will go down and it will not work well at all.
The Vortec motors get most of their power improvement from using a head that has a higher port placement than a old school head which results in a better path from the intake to the valve; they are basically a factory version of a high runner head which the aftermarket started making for the SBC ‘back in the day.’
To use your TBI setup your would have to swap your heads on, which is possible but then you lose the performance of both the better heads and the MPI. There may also be issues with the valvetrain, the 98 uses a roller cam vs. the flat tappet cam in your older motor and I am not sure if you can use the Vortec rocker arms and pushrods with your old heads. You may also be able to get an aftermarket intake for the Vortec motor that would accept a carb that you can then adapt your TBI throttle body to but that is not going to be a budget friendly option.
