      Hello,

First off, thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I am a proud owner of a 1997 Subaru Legacy 2.2l Sedan with a little over 80k miles.
Now from what I understand Subaru’s tend to last “more than 100k” miles.
      Now with that being said;

      1. To my knowledge the TRANs fluid has never been changed
      2. I have already replaced the spark plugs and the fuel filter
      3. I have “seafoamed” the car
      4. And I don’t drive the car how it shouldn’t be driven.

      The Problem:
I think this is related to the transmission somehow *correct me if i’m wrong*
and i’m open to any and all suggestions on how to fix/improve this issue.
SOMETIMES when I start my car, and go to drive; something just isn’t right. [br]
Now bear with me while I try to explain the issue,
its difficult to explain and most people don’t understand.

When I go to drive the car, it almost feels as if it is stuck in first gear or I have the parking break on or something of that nature. I can “floor” the gas pedal and still only move very slow [>5mph] and as the car is moving it almost sounds as though every tire is moving at a different time. I attached a video to better help you understand what I mean. This is not a very good quality video, since it was dark and I was not planning on taking a video, I just needed proof so people stop calling me crazy.

***For some reason the video wouldn’t attach. Here is the link to it in my DropBox account***
      [video src="https://www.dropbox.com/s/ompnfrfm72ov4v6/VID_20130808_045101.mp4" /]

At the beginning of the video, you can hear me step on the gas pedal hard, but as you can tell the car barely moves at all. I am on a flat surface, no hills or anything like that. After that, you can hear the tires ripping gravel around, you can’t hear the other 3 tires but they were all moving at different times it seemed and it should not make that much noise just from turning. I don’t really really understand what could cause this and like I said it only happens a couple times a month. Oddly enough, it seems to only happen in the summer when its hot. It has never once happened in the winter.

I am open to any suggestions or theories anyone can throw at me! I am so lost I don’t even know what to say to anyone. I took it to subaru and they basically laughed at me and said I was crazy and everything seemed to be fine {after charging me $80 fors a diagnostics test} :pinch:
Needless to say i’m desperate! Help!
      Thanks again for your time!

It sounds like a line pressure/fluid problem.
In the winter no problems due to cold weather
        thicker fluid.hot weather thinner fluid/viscosity.
I would change the fluid and see if your problem improves.

          Also check your differential fluid.

Thank you both! Would you recommend using Lucas additive when changing the TRANS fluid? Also, do yo I have any idea where/how to change the differential fluid?

ETCG has some videos on diff service if you want to search his channel.

here is a video to help you. I would just change the
fluid first before adding any products.

Thank you form your input! The only thing I’m worried about is I heard that when you change your fluid for the first time and you have a lot of miles on your car, is that your transmission has a good chance of failing afterwards. I don’t really want that to happen and I saw ETCG put Lucas in his same year, same model Subaru. That’s why I was going to add the Lucas.
