I need to replace the rag joint. I am going to try LARES 205 Steering Coupling Assembly from RockAuto, but I don’t see how it fastens to the column. It has a pinch fitting for the steering gear. Anyone have an idea how it fastens to the column intermediate shaft? Or other strategies to fix the rag joint?

Are there no instructions with the part? I know that men usually throw them away but now might be the time to read them.
From doing a little research it appears that there are two nuts that need to be removed from the steering shaft end to remove it. The other end looks like a pinch bolt.
Be sure to line everything up the same position it came off.
I always run the seat belt through the steering wheel spokes and fasten it so the shaft doesn’t spin while disconnected. That could break the air bag clockspring in the steering column.

That is pretty much dead on Bill. I had to do mine in my ’94 S-10 and that is exactly the way I replaced it.
