OMG Eric… I was feeling your frustration with everything you touched as I have been there and done that before. That job just shows the public the crap us techs have to deal with every day.
I’m sure that if you were working at a Nissan dealership your hair would be completly grey by this point 😆 It would almost be easier to remove the cylinder head with the manifold attached and then remove the manifold.
I’m sure that nissan techs have tricks and ways of doing that job easier or they would all starve.
I hope you have better luck on assembly.
I noticed that too that there was oil on the oil filter. I don’t know why but I always see oil around the oil pan and oil filter whenerver i work on these engines but they never seem to lose oil. I work at a Nissan dealership and to be completely honest working on Nissans isn’t really that hard for me, I quite enjoy it actually but some jobs can really be a pain though such as this one.

Oil would splash there every time you replaced a filter. You really can’t say there’s a leak there unless you clean the area and recheck after a few miles of driving. I’m going to guess that it doesn’t have a leak. It’s more likely that someone just didn’t clean up after the last oil change.

A general question about a job this big in general:
How do you get (and stay) organized with all the differenz screws, washers, holders you remove during such a job? Looks like you just put them somewhere and – due to your experience – find them and use them at the right place. How does an not that experienced guy does this?
(Pretty sure the issue was questioned at another place before but I couldn’t find something about this topic yet.)

I believe I covered that in the video. Keep the fasteners with the parts you remove, that way you know where they go when you put things back together. You could also make a photographic record as you disassemble to help guide you for reassembly.
great video eric. one question though…i assumed you were removing the studs to allow you to pull the upper plenum out to clean and such, but you didn’t. Why was it then that you removed the studs. did i miss something? seems like you had the clearance to put the gasket on, not needing to remove the studs unless you were pulling out the intake.

There was not enough clearance to put the gasket in place with the studs installed. That’s why I removed them. I only had room if I had a pry bar jammed in there and even then it was barely enough. I found it best to remove the studs instead of trying to sneak the gasket past them.
