I’m looking into buying a 1997 Dodge Caravan with AWD. It has about 114k miles. In the ad it said that the front wheels drive. but the rear ones don’t. I’m not sure if the rear wheels are locked up or if they just don’t propel the vehicle. I’m not sure how he knows this. The van is priced dirt cheap so I’m hoping it’s just a sensor or broken/disconnected abs line. I’m just looking for the most common issues with the AWD on these vans. Thanks.

My suggestion here would be to Have any codes read before any purchase and post them here
for help or take it to a shop and have the codes read and diagnosed. It may be a simple fix or a
real expensive repair.Thanks College Man. I respect your opinion, but in a Chrysler, wouldn’t this just throw an AWD light? Do standard code readers even read these codes? I know ford and chevy pick-ups trigger the 4WD light when that motor goes out. I will bring my Matco palm scanner, but I don’t know if it will help. I also don’t know if I will be able to take it to a shop to look it over because I’m not 100% that it is currently drive able due to the AWD issue.
