First of all, there is a fascinating paper on Honda’s alternator charging. The TL/DR is that when the car is nice and warmed up, the alternator goes in to a “low” mode and the voltage drops to roughly the normal sitting battery voltage (with engine off). Some people might think the alternator is dead — it isn’t.

But I have a second question. Has anyone noticed that the battery voltage on their ODB reader is precisely 1 volt less than actual other than me?
