      Hello all,
I have a 1997 Honda Accord with the f22b2 and auto transmission. Originally it had a P1361 code and wouldn’t rev past 3k rpm. Replaced the crankshaft position sensor and timing belt while i was in there.
Check engine light went off but now the car won’t rev past 4k rpm and no check engine light codes(at first). checked the cap and rotor and they were worn so i replaced them, problem wasn’t fixed. But after some driving car finally threw a code and has a store pending code.
The codes are P0172(stored code), and p0170(pending code)
      any help would be appreciated
      thank you

How is the performance below 4k? Is it sluggish below 4k or is it like you get to 4k and it suddenly won’t go higher?

Performance feels ok below 4k. It hits 4k and then the car slows down so i have to let off the throttle so it will shift and i can continue accelerating. driving it around some more it threw a p1399 and p1030 but they went away.

What do your long/short fuel trims look like at idle and under load?

If you don’t have a scanner that will give you that information, get one – it’s an essential diagnostic tool. Here’s the theory behind fuel trim:

Sounds like your valves are out of adjustment.

My short term fuel trims are in the negative 20 and zero under load. Ill have to recheck the long term fuel trims. I saw a video that said the short term should be within the single digits, i borrowed a fuel pressure gage from autozone and will check as well

Finally did the fuel pressure test and it came up to 45 (psi i think i forgot to check what the gauge read the measurements in and i returned it to autozone already) from what i’ve read that sounds about right.

I did notice that the engine won’t rev when it’s open throttle, i guess i was getting to open throttle at 4k rpm but now i have seen that if i slowly open the throttle it will go past 4k but as soon as i open all the way it bog down.

I threw the timing light on it as well and the notch is past the mark (towards the back of the car) moving the distributor changed nothing. Does this mean my timing is off?

The first 3 are with engine at idle the last 3 with engine at 3k rpm
