sounds like a loose connection somewhere.body ground? you will need to do a visual for any loose or broken connections.
could even be corrosion. heres a link for a wiring diagramC8-)

You may also have a failing voltage regulator that is overcharging then the excess voltage is being dumped off. The voltage regulator is usually built in to the alternator. But yes, as mentioned, start by checking all battery and ground cables and connections for cleanliness and tightness. Here’s a video on charging systems.

          Good luck.

+1 on the above posts. It could be a wiring issue or a charging system problem. Definitely check your connections.

Most good auto parts stores can load test your battery and alternator which i would recommend.

You can also do a voltage drop test on the

Is there any change when you play with the headlight switch? This is a common wear point and if the connection in the switch is starting to go then you might experience the problem that you’re having, if the lights flicker more or less when you play with the switch I would start by replacing the headlight switch and rechecking for the condition.

Of course check the charging system as mentioned just to be sure that’s in good condition first.

Thanks for your replies guys. The car will do this with the lights on or off, as the dash lights flicker as well. Same with the interior lights. The headlights just join in once they come on.

Couldn’t find an issue with the voltage or anything.

                Cheers

Again, I would look at the voltage regulator in the alternator then. If it can’t keep the alternator under control, and all your connections are in good shape, then the alternator/voltage regulator might be suspect.

Did you have the charging system load tested?

Be sure you checked the battery and charging system correctly as that would be the most likely fault. This video might help.

If you know the charging system and battery are good you might look for a loose ground connection or something, OR corrosion at the battery terminals which could cause a bad connection. Bottom line it sounds like a connection issue, the next step is to find it.
