      Hello,
I am very grateful for your videos. They have saved me many times. One of the issues I am having is the throttle on this 1996 Honda Civic. I took off the TB and cleaned the butterly and the IACV. I put everything back together and now I am having issues with a very sudden drop in RPM after pedal is released. I have a link to a youtube video that I made here.

I am also stumped by the brakes. I replaced all 4, including calipers, rotors and drums. I bled with a bottle like you showed and I have gone through a large bottle of new brake fluid. I still dont get a hard pedal. I just ordered a new master cylinder and hope that helps since I dont see any leaks.

No problem before the cleaning? If you turn on the ac does the idle come up?
Check that your IAC is plugged in. For the spongy brakes you may need to adjust
the rear brakes. More in this link.

Everything is plugged in like normal, I am just curious why you here that click right before the RPM’s drop quickly. It did not do that before. I was only cleaning the TB and IACV as maintenance. I wonder if its the throttle cable somehow. I will double check the rear brake adjustments to see if they are tight enough.

Many times after you clean & reassemble the IACV & TB you need to perform some minute throttle adjustments using the idle adjustment screw (in your case built next to the throttle opening) due to the gunk buildup you just flushed out holding the throttle screw at the proper spot.

Honda-Tech is my go to source for all my needs after my 1996-2000 Civic FSM.

I really wish I could find the exact method to perform a Honda idle relearn on this D16y7 engine to help. I have noticed this car does not have a FITV and I cannot find a coolant bleeder valve. There is also no EGR to clean. Everything seems to be more difficult or different on this engine.

Anytime you work on the intake to a point where you’re potentially changing restriction of incoming air you should reset the ecu for a proper idle relearn

I did disconnect the batter afterward to reset. I think I have the idle under control now.
