Have a 96 Hond Accord LX 2.2L that cranked up and ran for 2 or 3 min and just cut off. Checking the car out it has no spark on the plugs or the coil. Replaced coil still nothing. Checked distributer and it was full of oil and the wires were brittle so I just replaced with a new one, still no fire. The CEL is not on put on a scan tool no codes at all. When you turn the switch on the CEL comes on the fuel pump primes for 2 sec. and the CEL goes off. Checked injectors and they are firing. With the switch on I have power to the coil and distributer but nothing on the input wire that tells them to fire when the motor is turning over. Timing belt is fine and the rotor is turning in the distributer. I have found 3 grounds 1 on the block to battery,1 on valve cover, and 1 on the intake they are good. What could this be?

Have you checked fuses? did you use aftermarket distributor
or OE? are the wires correct?

The problem is interesting. Sounds like you checked everything and it HAS injector pulse. I was unable to find a wiring diagram online. I did find this link

          http://easyautodiagnostics.com/honda_dist_ignition/honda_ignition_systems_1.php

          Hope it helps

You might check the main relay first if you did many electrical exception.

Get your vehicle manual : https://www.ericthecarguy.com/kunena/10-Repair-Central-The-How-To-Forum/43532-get-the-right-repair-manuals-for-your-car

Use a multimeter to test your wiring.

Checked all fuses with a test light under hood and in car. Used OE parts, leaning toward crank position sensor, because I have no firing signal going to the distributer or coil.

Thanks found this online already though tried the LED test on the igniter and there is nothing coming in. Thought maybe a bad ground but all grounds I found are good.

I have fuel pressure and the injectors are firing so I dont think its the main relay.

You may end up testing wires from the PCM out to the distributor with the ohm meter. I’ll have to assume the new distributor is good. You have pulse so the PCM is alive. Maybe take the LED tester to the pin at the PCM for the ignitor.

The main relay is for fuel pump not spark.

Since the injectors are firing does that mean the crank sensors are working? I dont know what else to do. 🙁

OK dug into the ECM (the brain) checked the grounds going into the ECM they were good. Hooked the red lead of my LED test light to a 12v positive and the black lead to the yellow and green signal wire coming out of ecm. When you turn the switch on the LED comes on when you crank the car the light dies, it should pulse and it dont. Any body got any ideas?

Yellow/Green wire looks like the wire for pulse to the ignitor. Did you check at the back of the distributor connector (bad connector pin maybe)? Did you have someone crank over the engine a wiggle and pull on the harness (open harness)? Did you check at the PCM yel/grn pin 21 I think?

Yes and its pin 20 and there is no pulse on that wire at the ecm or distributer. So is the ecm bad or the crank sensors bad. Do you know the signal wire for the crank sensor on the ecm?
