That is a possibility but you might just want to check for vacuum leaks first just to be sure you don’t have any. Also you can ‘tap’ on the IAC valve with a screwdriver handle while your engine is running to see if the idle changes, if it does then you might have an issue with the valve. It’s not a bad idea to check the tune up items as well just to be on the safe side.
November 28, 2011 at 11:00 am #436107Some people also will clean there IACV, however, it does not always yeild any greater improvements with the results.
Is the CEL on?
And as Eric has stated, you may have a vaccum leak. Do you have access to a vacuum gauge?
November 28, 2011 at 11:00 am #436108+1 on checking for vacuum leaks and checking for codes.
Sometimes a EGR vavle can stick and cause a low.rough idle.November 28, 2011 at 11:00 am #436109Quoted From Trcustoms719:

November 28, 2011 at 11:00 am #436110Are you using a capasiter with your amps and bass box? The alternator could be drawing down your engines rpm’s
November 28, 2011 at 11:00 am #436111When did it start doing this? What engine do you have?
Air idl control or a Tps throttle body position sensor are the things that come to my mind!!!
+1 to the vacum leaks!
Does it do it all the time or just in drive?
Did you change your air filter?
The fact it does it after 15 miles makes me think something is getting wam and sticking – air idl control or TPS. but any car past 95 and it should throw codes!
I had a 2000 ford explorer that did something like this and it ended up being the plugs going bad???
Does it stumble when you rev it? Could be a weak fuel pump or a enjector getting stuck!!!
Do you get any black smoke out the tail pipe?
November 30, 2011 at 11:00 am #436112Here is a video on finding vacuum leaks.

Now that it’s been brought up if your amp is not hooked up correctly it can cause a large drain on the electrical system, in fact even if it’s hooked up correctly it can do that. You might want to check system voltage when the condition presents itself and see if it still has a problem with the amp and radio off, if it goes away perhaps your amp is putting too much of a load on the system and it can’t keep up.
December 16, 2011 at 11:00 am #436114My bet is on the IAC valve.
You will not necessarily get codes if it’s not working properly.

to answer your questions no black smoke, amp is hook up right i’ve learn my lesson with amp and how much alternators are. no leaks on vacuum, check all and when i was driving last night to school and home the oil light did not come on and the rmp were low but not as low. 12/15/2011 this car is driving me crazy
