Have you tried taking the brake caliper off and manually compressing the caliper and make sure it is not partially frozen?_x000D_
      _x000D_
This doesn’t make sense, letting your foot off the brake pedal is essentially doing the same thing as bleeding from the caliper,

If the flex hose is original it’s probably time for a new one.If bleeding off fluid from the bleeder releases the pads then the caliper is most likely good and the flex hose is swelling up inside and not allowing c

since you can bleed them off at the bleeder on the caliper try bleeding them on the up streem side of the brake hose. if they wont bleed off up streem it is the brake hose pluged up only letting fluid 1 way. many times it is the hose in side that comes ap

+1 for checking the flex hose to start with. It sounds like you have a restriction as already stated._x000D_

Have you adjusted your brake pedal free play recently?

I don’t think it has anything to do with ABS but rather the brake hoses, in fact that’s my ‘test’ for them, if fluid comes out under pressure like that after pumping the brakes a few times I replace the brake hose and recheck for the symptom.

So summer is over and we’re back working on the car. 🙂

The break issue is still there. After the car gets warm the front breaks will get hot (and when you slow down will actually stop the car without power), but only sometimes.

I have replaced the flex lines on both sides, the calipers on both sides, and just did the master cylinder today. After about 7 miles of driving the problem reappeared. 🙁

I think all that’s left is the booster and the proportioning block.

Any suggestions? Am I overlooking something obvious?

You might check the brake pedal return, if the pedal does not come all the way up it can cause an issue like the one you’re having. Different vehicles use different set ups for this so you’ll have to look to see if there is a return spring or something there to reset the pedal after you depress it. I would go there before condemning the proportioning valve.

Also if you installed a new master cylinder, you sometimes have to set the lash between the master cylinder and the push rod exiting the brake booster with a feeler gauge.

I would even crack open a bleeder screw the next time this happens to see if the fluid squirts out or not.

I forgot about setting the pushrod clearance, good call, however that would not explain why it was there BEFORE you changed the master cylinder.

If you put the front end on jack stands.
do the wheels spin free? also as suggested.
crack the bleeder to see if pressure shoots out.
