Ok, this truck was having issues with taking gas at part throttle before it finally quit. The truck tries to start, spits and sputters. I also got it started a couple of times by unplugging the IAC valve, but this trick does’n’t work anymore. I checked the timing belt and timing and they were both within spec. Checked the resistance on the crank and cam sensors and they were also in spec. The fuel pump works and the truck is getting fuel but I don’t know the pressure it is getting yet. Any other issue that is prone to these trucks that would cause it not to start? BTW it is a 3.4L V6.

Have you checked spark? Spray some starter fluid in the intake to see if it will run.
If it does run you have a fuel issue.

It has spark on all cylinders. Wont start with starting fluid, just sputters more. Compression is good on all cylinders and I know its getting air. Its getting Spark, air, has compression, and is in time mechanically. The only thing left is fuel or a sensor screwing some stuff up.

Was just wondering if this issue is common and, if it is, what causes it.

Well we figured it out guys, it had a half a tank full of water and a bad tps sensor to boot.

That’s a lot of water? Glad you figured it out.

Yeah buddy, don’t know how it got in there either. The seals on the tank were good and haven’t had any problems since so the only thing I can think of is where I got it.

That’s why I will not use ethenol. Hygroscopic AF. The worst crap you can ever put in a tank.
