Hi guys its me Joe again so last wk someone asked had I lifted the car and check out the flexplate by taking out the plastic cover plated between the starter and the tranny. Well I lifted it up today I rented a tensioner bar and took of the belt. All the pulleys rotate all the way around expect the engine pulley it would only turn a little bit and get stuck.. I then had my cousin to turn the ignition a hair as I watched the flex plate it looked like it wobbled to me and it spins but the engine pulley does not. So as some one suggested last wk I believe the metal grinding we heard before losing power on the I5 highway was something between the tranny and the engine. So this wk I will see when its good to have it towed by to this guy and see what is going to be his excuse on messing up the tranny and engine I suppose. Does anybody think it was the torque converter getting busted up or the screws of the flex plate grinding on something..
My question is what do you folks think it might be as I said the flex plated moves but the engine doesn’t not even with the serpentine belt off.

God bless everyone not just for helping people for free and this forum but for showing that there are still decent people left in the on this planet..

You can guess at things all day. The only way to answer the questions and repair the problem is to remove the transmission and see what has happened and make a plan to repair it. You are probably going to find something along the lines of this.

          Agreed…
That’s about what your gonna find if your lucky and there is no damage to the torque converter.
          Good Luck

Have a call in to Mechanic to see when he could review it.

              Thanks you

If mechanic finds damage to torque is the whole tranny shot or just part he’s gonna have to do.

                Thanks for reply

Mechanic stated it was a bad flex plate and its broken so he asked for old one and I gave it to him He said it was to match the new one he orders kept car 2/28/16 to fix it. He told me he wanted to look at it meaning the tranny but when I got there he had the car down from the lift anyway he wanted to know because there was a whole in the top of the bell housing if I still wanted to have a new flex plate and I told him hell yeah just get the car running back to the way I gave it to you minus the bad flex plate and all is good. I reminded him that the car was running perfect except that I had to turn the flex plate to get it started that’s all..so he kept the car..Iam hoping and praying that his mistake didn’t ruin nothing else on the car and that it doesn’t get patched up where I won’t know to much later…

I’m not understanding how anything you said was the fault of the technician working on your vehicle.

its the tech problem as he did the work on the flex plate and car was running great except I had to turn flex plate to get it started other wise it ran like a baby in new pampers.. So weather he put it in wrong or bad flexplate he has to fix it. If i work on someones car and break it I will have to fix it..
