Check the coil. They often crack when old and cause warm/hot engine condition starting problems… This is a very common issue and the first thing I look at in a Toyota of your year and model…

These ignition coils are known pattern failures to crack and the symptom is a difficult warm/hot start… Have seen this many, many times… Symptoms are exactly as you are describing…

Here is a pic of a cracked coil in the distributor…(the orange part with ‘Toyota’ spelled on it that is upside down) It is an easy part to replace.

Just remove your distributor cap and rotor and inspect the coil..

put a new coil in,did not make any difference. folks at the part store thought that a bad igniter (ignition control module),could show the same signs of not starting when warm/hot.is there a way to test it?.thanks have a nice day.

You test a coil by checking resistance with a DVOM. Either about 1 ohm, or .5 ohms depending on engine size.
An inline spark tester is also a good way to go. You need to prove there is no spark when hot before you change any parts.
