I just installed new master and slave cylinders on this car; parts are from Oreilly. The issue is, I think the master cylinder piston is bottoming out at the end of the cylinder. I did not adjust the clutch pedal height what so ever during the installation and I adjusted the push rod length to perfection with about a half inch of free play. I did notice that the Oreilly cylinder had a much longer push rod with a shorter clevis compared to the OEM part I removed, but I would think that wouldn’t matter as the stroke length of the pedal will determine how far in the pushrod can travel before either the piston or the pedal bottoms out.

Anyone run into something this weird? Is there perhaps a metal stop in the master cylinder itself to prevent the piston from completely bottoming out, since that is bad for it? It sounds like it hits something and stops the pedal from traveling further, but the old OEM part didn’t do that!

      Thanks for any help.

You need to bleed the air out of the clutch hydraulics.
