Hi, i have a 1994 S10- Blazer. The front parking / turn signal light only works when using it as a turn signal but doesn’t stay on as a parking light. The light bulb is not blown or burned out because I switched it out with a bulb I knew worked. The bulb socket is getting 12 volts. I don’t get it, it works as a blinker and the 12 volts is present at the bulb socket and the bulb is good and no fuses blown. Any answer why this could happen? Thanks!

You have 12v or batt voltage @ the light socket when you turn park lamp switch on..then your bulb is bad (I know you said it good). but theory, your light would work for the signal light but not the park light. according to the diagram, the bulb is dual filaments and it shared the same ground. then your park lamp should work, recheck the brown wire for battery voltage when you turn on park lamp. and make sure the lamp socket is not too loose and it not make contact with the bulb (park lamp bulb filament)

I would only add to check a wiring diagram to verify you have power and ground. Here’s a free site for wiring diagrams. You could’ve gotten a bad new bulb, it happens.

          Good luck.

+1 on Beefy‘s suggestion with checking out the wiring diagram. I believe the parking lights and turn signal lights are activated by separate switches. I would look closer at the&

Thanks for the advice guys. The passenger side parking light and turn signal works fine. I took the bulb out of the passenger side and put it in the drivers side which is having the problem so i know its not the bulb. I used my volt meter and measured around 12 volts for the light bulb sockets ( got same voltage for both sides of vehicle). When i turn off my parking light switch the voltage goes to 0 which its suppose to, and when I turn on the switch i get the 12 volts. I even put in a new light bulb socket but made no difference. I would think if I’m getting the 12 volts at the socket and a good bulb it should work but its not. And i looked at the bulb and i see only 1 filament and no discoloration of the bulbs. Any ideas? Thanks for the help

1 filament? I think the bulb should have 2. one for signal and one for running light, check to see how many wire that going into your light socket, one should be ground, one for turn, and one for running light. Check the wiring diagram as beefy stated, also i forget to mention about current draw. use a test light instead of the multimeter. just in case you have a broken wire. a strange is all it take to power the multimeter, but will not light a bulb.) also check the GROUND.

If you have power to the circuit, and a known good bulb, then you need to check a wiring diagram and look at your grounds as mentioned above. Not much left to check. Good luck.

if your getting the 12v as stated. try to back probe the ground wire. using a clean ground somewhere else
on the car to see if the bulb comes on.C8-)

just looked at your print for the front park/turn lamp. there should be 3 wires going to it. two hots and a common ground.
it is a dual filament bulb.now the marker lamps are a single filament bulb. I hope we are on the same page.C8-)

Yea if the parking light is also a turn signal then it has 2 filaments which may share a common ground but will have separate power for the parking lights and the turn signal, perhaps you’re missing the wire for the parking light feed or there is a problem on the ground side as suggested.

Ok, there is 4 front lights that light up when i press the parking light switch. 1 light right by the headlight on both sides of the vehicle and 2 lights on the front bumper. when i don’t have my headlights or parking lights on only the lights right by the headlight is used as the blinker. But if i have my head lights on the light by the head light and the one on the bumper alternate like the one by the head light blinks then the one on the bumper blinks and so on. The light socket only has 2 connections for the wires and isn’t missing any wires. Maybe I’m talking about the marking lights like college man said and I’m sure there is only one filament in the bulb. It has been working since i had the vehicle, and all of a sudden when out the other day, i guess it could be a bad ground I’ll look at it tomorrow.http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Long-Life-Incandescent-Mini-Bulb-Sylvania_5080167-P_1259_R%7CGRPLAMPAMS_____# This is the bulb it takes. Thanks for the info guys.

The bulb has 1 filament i looked at the side that works and when the parking lights or turn signal is used the same filament lights up. There are 2 wires going into the socket, one green and one black. Thanks

Thanks for the link for the bulb in question. I would suggest to make sure that the metal connectors inside the bulb socket itself are clean and free or corrosion. As a simple test, you can take the tiny wires that come out of the bulb and bend one of them over to the other side of the bulb. The metal connectors themselves inside the bulb socket might provide better connection on one side. Worth a try. Good luck and keep us posted.

I think it’s defiantly worth checking the socket for corrosion or breakage, it could be that simple but if I read you correctly you already replaced the socket?

I got the light to work!! The marker light was the one not working, but wasn’t the problem. The parking light on the side I was having trouble with light bulb wasn’t seating in the socket correctly which caused the marker light not to work. I got a new bulb for the parking light and the marker light lit right up. Thanks for the help everybody!!
And Eric love the video’s keep up the good work
