Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Micra’s?

I have a poorly starting and running 1994 Nissan Micra 1.0L K11….It all started when one day it just wouldn’t start and it turned out the fuse for the fuel injectors was badly corroded (located at the front of the engine bay), it was replaced and eventually started up. Ever since then its never started up first time and it has a slight misfire.
      I’ve replaced the rotor arm,

Given that your fuse was badly corroded you may be onto something with an electrical issue. If you had one fuse that was corroded that badly then it’s reasonable to assume there may be others, connections are probably the #1 cause of electrical issues. You might consider getting a can of electrical contact cleaner and claning up all the fuses and there contacts inside the fuse box. It would also be a good idea to check for any vacuum leaks as these can also cause performance problems and not turn on the check engine light.

Good luck and keep us posted.

So I got a can of electrical contact cleaner and cleaned every electrical connection I could find and I also cleaned up every earth connection I could find on the engine, gearbox and chassis but nothing has changed, Its still starting and running bad. So I’m going to get a Multimeter and check to see if all the sensors are working properly…The crankshaft position sensor, the MAF sensor and the rest. Hopefully I can diagnose the problem.

I wouldn’t focus on any sensors or actuators unless you have a check engine light code for them, in a situation like yours you need to look at the basics. Given that you have already renewed the ignition system perhaps it’s time to look to the fuel system starting with checking the fuel pressure. If you find a fuel pressure issue then the next step would be to track down the cause and in your case an electrical problem could be the issue. Start with checking the fuel pressure and we’ll take it from there.

P.S. Make sure to check the pressure when the problem is happening as well as when you start the engine.

Okay thanks Eric, I’ll look into getting a pressure tester or borrow one from someone.

do a compression test…maybe you have a burnt valve…..let us know
