1993 jeep grand Cherokee electrical issues

I notice at idle the voltmeter goes down almost to the red. Also the headlights get brighter when the engine rpms go up. It also seems to be pushing acid out of battery vent. any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated .

Most parts stores will do a free check on battery and alternator. Might start there.
