Well I got my first car not more than a month ago. And I love it, how fast it goes, the feel of the steering wheel, and how it sounds, also just how it looks. However there are 115 some miles on her, and the previous owner didn’t take care of the car so much. I’m new to cars and repairing them on my own, however I do know a little bit (I’m not completely stupid when it comes to cars).

Anyway, she’s got a few issues with her. She needs a new timing belt (Which my father is helping me replace he’s a certified auto mechanic).
Besides that I have no CLUE what’s the matter. For example, when I accelerate after sitting at a red light the car will take off fine until it shoots up to the 3 on the RPM gauge, then it jolts really hard and shoots down to the 2 or 1. As for when I stop it stops okay then it makes a hard jerk and then sits like nothing ever happened.

Has anyone got ANY ideas or tips on what I should do to save her? That’s a car I don’t want to give up. Please help!!
